What to consider:

The health insurance company serves as a point of contact for all matters concerning health and thus also one's own mobility. The extent to which the health insurance company will subsidize the purchase of a stair lift depends on a single prerequisite: The applicant must have a care degree. Before purchasing a stair lift, it is best to contact your health insurance company and find out about the current requirements for your care degree and the possibilities of a subsidy or cost absorption on the part of the health insurance company.

What condition must be met:

Since January 1, 2017, the five care degrees anchored in the Care Strengthening Act 2 have been in effect, replacing the three care levels that applied until then. If persons in need of care are recognized by the care insurance fund as having a care level, they can apply to their health insurance fund for a financial subsidy for barrier-free (construction) measures. This includes, for example, measures to reduce barriers, such as a stair lift. This is possible within the framework of the financially viable age-appropriate adaptation of living space.

Bereits ab dem Pflegegrad 1 können Pflegeversicherte den Einbau von einem Treppenlift mit einem einmaligen Zuschuss in Höhe von bis zu 4.180 Euro beanspruchen. Dieser einmalige Zuschuss wird von der Pflegekasse ausgezahlt, um den Wohnraum barrierefrei und somit altersgerecht zu gestalten. Der Zuschuss kann für alle beliebigen Maßnahmen der Barriere Reduzierung genutzt werden. Leben mehrere pflegebedürftige Menschen in einer gemeinsamen Wohnung, liegen die Zuschüsse bei maximal 4.180 Euro je Pflegebedürftigen. Der Gesamtbetrag je Maßnahme ist jedoch auf 16.720 Euro begrenzt. Sollte sich der Hilfebedarf einmal ändern, ist es nach Absprache mit der Pflegekasse auch möglich, den Zuschuss ein zweites Mal gewährt zu bekommen.
